Butterfield Land In Canton Twp., Michigan

The Probate File of John Butterfield, who died on 30 Sept 1882, listed his property as the SW 1/4 of SW 1/4 of Section 10, (Twp) 2 South of (Range) 8 E; the below-listed deed indicated that John Butterfield bought the SE, not the SW, section of Section 10 in Twp. #2. Transcription error? Had he sold the Southeast section at an earlier date?

The Most Popular Piece of Land Elias PALMITER, was deeded 80 acres of land on August 7, 1837 on what is now, the Northeast corners of Ford Road and Sheldon Roads. In 1855 , Stephen Brewster, sold the property to David Cady. In 1865 John Butterfield sold the property to Samuel Lynden.....today, the land is Harvard Square Shopping Center.

By 1870, John & Esther Butterfield were divorced (she was living in Clinton Co., MI) and John was married to Lucy (Rider) Fox:
