The land patent issued by John Q. Adams to Jehiel Davis of Livingston Co., New York, can be found here. [Land Description: NE 21/ 1-S 8-E - Wayne Co.]

The 1850 Census found Jehiel Davis as follows:

1850 MI Wayne Co.

Davis, Jehiel, 57, NY

“, Mary, 40, NY

Seeley, Martha, 70, MA

Some "Davis" burial records for Plymouth Twp., Wayne Co., MI, are listed as follows:

DAVIS, Phebe "wife of Jonah Davis" died March 30, 1852 "aged 79yrs"

DAVIS, Jonah "of Lima, Liv. Co, New York who died: March 3, 1837 "aged 68yrs"
DAVIS, Jehiel born September 22, 1793 died August 26, 1859 "aged 66 yrs"

DAVIS, Edwin "only son of Jehiel & Mary Davis" born Feb. 21, 1828 died April 24, 1850 "aged 22yrs"

A biography of George Starkweather mentioned that he married Amelia, daughter of Jehiel Davis of Plymouth, Michigan. Amelia is also referred to as Amelia Heywood, adopted daughter of Mary Davis.

A bio of Timothy Lyon can be found here. [T. Timothy Lyon, son of Timothy & Mary (Davis) Lyon.]
The quit claim deeds to Jehiel Davis were for the property that included Bradner's mill. There was Luther Dean's mill in Nankin twp. (Wayne Co., MI); the Bradners and the Deans were related (see Bradner link in deed). Probably not the same property, but.... This link concerns the Dean mill and other mills in the Nankin Twp. area.

The Lotz Road - Ford Road intersection [Canton, Wayne Co., MI], was the center of the S.J. Young [is this Silas Young mentioned in a deed?] estate. There was a saw-mill located north of Willow Creek, a blacksmith located on the southwest corner of Lotz Road, and just west of Lotz was the residence of Henry Rowe, a talented civil engineer [see link here].

Seeking descendants of Jehiel Davis, b. Wilbraham, Ma, 1787, lived and married (1) Lydia Bentley and (2) Phoebe Titus Dean in New York; moved to Troy Mi with Phoebe and children, died in Mi in 1872. I'm a direct descendant of Jehiel and Phoebe Davis, looking to exchange family information, and learn more about Jehiel's time in New York.

Not a descendant, but as author of the blog, here's my interest:

My interest in the Jehiel Davis family began with Ann, daughter of Jehiel & Lydia (Bentley) Davis, whose first husband was Lorenzo Dow Hickey (2nd husband John Wesley Peaslee). Lorenzo Dow Hickey (who was in Lapeer County in 1850 with his then wife, Ann (Davis) Hickey) was the ancestor of Judy in Arkansas, whose relative, Nancy Bridger, married my great-grandfather's brother, Isaac Garrett, in 1880 in Craighead Co., Arkansas.

From my Detour Through History blog: http://detourthroughhistory.blogspot.com/2009/07/some-participants-of-jehial-davis.html

Good luck, hannah's grandma. Cathy

Cathy, since I first posted my comment seeking any other descendants of the Troy, Oakland, Jehiel Davis, I've learned a great deal about my Davis family. Through a combination of paper genealogy and dna, I've "met" a number of Davis cousins descended from Jehiel, his siblings and some of his aunts uncles! Thank you for your comment - which I failed to respond to in 2012!

Gail (now Grandma to Hannah and Mathilda!)
