To John Farmer
To one map of Michigan of 1844 on Rollers $3.00
John Farmer of the city of Detroit and county aforesaid being duly sworn deposes and saith that said amound is just and trueand that he has not been paid any part thereof and that there there is no ___ against said amount But it may be proper to add that the deceased said he wanted one for the office which I supposed he meant the Co. but did not require me to charge it to the Co. (but thought he meant to charge it to the Co.)...Detroit June 30 1845 John Farmer

"...Farmer saw there still was need for continuously updated maps of the whole state... . In 1844 he launched his master work, The State of Michigan and the Surrounding Country. Michigan residents found it absolutely essential, so much that supply could not keep up with demand. A hot secondary market formed where used copies of Farmer maps sold for much higher than their stated price." [Source]
