Upper Canada Land Petitions (1763-1865)
Microform: c-1609

The Memorial of Cohowana and Soobuhtaha known in English by the name of Polly and Cloe Allan, nieces of Captain Bull...that they are the heirs of Captain Bull...had a tract of land of six miles square set off to them on the Genesee River, but the overbearing and imperious management of the land jobbers of the State of New York having made an unfavorable impression on the minds of the Fathers and Chiefs of the Nations to which your Memorialists belong, rendered it necessary for peace sake to leave that Country which has now become the country of their enemies....Chippewa...your Memorialists nearest relatives after Captain Bull who in 75 conducted Col. Johnson to Canada...met St. Leger and at Areseo? was killed in action...the Chiefs of the Chippewa have given to your Memorialists a tract of land on the west side of the River La Tranche of about six miles square....
