The deed attached to the drawing, 4-86, was between David Cathcart, commonly called Lord Alloway, and Masterson Ure, by their attorney, Joseph Fellows....to him from Robert Troup....Duncan McColl of Caledonia of the third part....(Phelp's and Gorham's Purchase)....by lands conveyed to Angus Haggart


More about David Cathcart (Lord Alloway) from Electric Scotland:

  David Cathcart...was born at Ayr, in January 1764. His father, Elias Cathcart, a respectable merchant, who dealt in French wines, and traded with Virginia, previous to the Revolution in North America, was at one time provost of that town. 

He died at Blairston, 27th April 1829, at the age of sixty-five, and was interred in the ruin of Alloway kirk.
