...certify that Kenneth L. McDougall, late of Glengarry now at Niagara, brother to Donald McDougall Lieut. in Late Incorporated Militia, did his duty or defence of this Province during the Late war with the United States of America.


The earliest available information comes from an 1862 map of Glengarry County...which provides an overview of the settlement of the Maxville area at that time. The map shows the names of several structures and/or occupants...P. McDougall residing on Lot 11, Concession 17... .
...Donald McDougall is listed on both Lots 9 and 10, Concession 17. His home appears to be situated on Lot 9 on the west side of Main Street, slightly north of the church.
